Vaccine Nation and the Vaccine Safety Debate

Click cover to buy on Amazon
My new thriller, Vaccine Nation, is a fast-paced action thriller designed to entertain, but it also explores the very real issues in the current debate over vaccine safety in the mandatory U.S. National Immunization Program.  The book is now available on Amazon for pre-order for delivery November 22nd.  Please click on the book cover to order.

In Vaccine Nation, Dani North is a filmmaker who just won at the Tribeca Film Festival for her documentary, The Drugging of Our Children, a film critical of the pharmaceutical industry.  She’s also just started work on a new documentary on autism.  When a pharmaceutical industry vaccine researcher hands her smoking gun evidence about the U.S. National Immunization Program seconds before he’s murdered right in front of her, Dani finds herself implicated and pursued by the police.

Dani realizes what she’s been handed could have crucial implications on upcoming hearings by a Senate committee.  A key issue the Senate committee will consider is whether Congress should continue the immunity it granted in 1986 to the pharmaceutical industry for claims by parents on damage to their children from the U.S. National Immunization Program. That puts Dani on the run in a race to understand and expose the evidence.  That is, before the police can grab her, or Grover Madsen, a megalomaniacal pharmaceutical industry CEO, can have her hunted down by his hired killers.  Madsen knows exactly what Dani has and how explosive it is for the pharmaceutical industry: it has the potential to make the tobacco industry’s lawsuits and subsequent multi-billion dollar settlements seem like routine slip-and-fall cases.  Madsen uses all his company’s political and financial resources to track Dani.

The book’s pace is intended to be reminiscent of Six Days of the Condor (and the film it spawned, Three Days of the Condor), or Hitchcock’s North by Northwest.  The action of Vaccine Nation occurs over four breathtaking days.

The current debate in the U.S. on vaccine safety portrayed in the novel is real.  My primary inspiration for writing Vaccine Nation was my exposure to the vaccine debate through my fiancĂ©’s work as a documentary filmmaker in the health-related field, including films on ADHD and related drugging of children, and on vaccines and autism.  The facts in Vaccine Nation are accurate, based on my exposure to them through Manette’s films and my own research.  People will find some of them shocking.  For example, in 1986, Congress granted immunity to the pharmaceutical industry for liability related to their vaccines for the National Immunization Program.  Vaccines in the childhood vaccination schedule contain toxic substances like aluminum, formaldehyde and the chemical compound in anti-freeze.  The flu shot still contains thimerosal, a preservative that is 49.6% mercury.

The controversy represented in Vaccine Nation surrounding the safety and side effects of vaccines, and vaccines’ suspected relationship to the autism epidemic are still real.  The debate on vaccine safety is ongoing and increasing: recent CDC statistics show that 10% of parents (up from 2% to 3%.) are avoiding or delaying vaccinating their children because of concerns about vaccine safety.

As such, Vaccine Nation is a dramatization of this debate, presented in the form of a thriller that will hopefully both entertain you and make you think.

  1. When they started the H1N1 vaccine I refused to have it, but now they throw in a cocktail of vaccines into one flu shot. I does kinda make you think.

  2. Madison,

Yes, but the worst thing about the flu shot is that it contains thimerosal, which is 49.6% mercury, one of the most toxic substances on the planet.

    Thanks for commenting

    David

    1. Your statement is misleading. Yes, mercury is toxic, but thimerosal contains a different form of mercury called ethylmercury. From the CDC website (and link below for even more information):
"Studies comparing ethylmercury and methylmercury suggest that they are processed differently in the human body. Ethylmercury is broken down and excreted much more rapidly than methylmercury. Therefore, ethylmercury (the type of mercury found in the influenza vaccine) is much less likely than methylmercury (the type of mercury in the environment) to accumulate in the body and cause harm."

    2. Clearly your "25 year career on Wall St" didn't teach you any organic chemistry or toxicology, Mr Lender. A compound of an element is not the same as the element itself. Iron is a toxic heavy metal in overdose but, complexed in Hemoglobin, is essential to life. Copper is essential to some metabolic processes, but toxic in excess. Did you not research this book?

    3. Mr Lender clearly does not know of what he speaks. We can only hope he stops speaking.

    4. Mr. Lender need to learn the difference between ethyl mercury and methyl mercury, what the meaning of "trace" is. And he should consult real http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-final-nail-in-the-mercury-autism-hypothesis/doctors

  3. Mr. Lender,
AS a parent of a vaccine injured child I cannot thank you enough for your work on this book.

  4. Andrew,
My pleasure. Perhaps the book will raise awareness. I hope your child is on his/her way to recovery.

  5. I can't wait to read this book! It sounds very interesting, and I, myself, am struggling with the new question, "to vaccinate or not".. My children are already 10 and almost 5, and my 4 yr old had a severe reaction to his last round.. I will probably have a fight on my hands when it's time to get the next round because I refuse to do that to him again! Neither of them will ever get the chicken pox vaccine, either; and none of us ever get the flu shot!

  6. My chiropractor told me about a study that showed persons who received flu shots for five consecutive years in the 1970's were 10 times more likely to develop Alzheimer's in the 90's. I don't get flu shots. I didn't get them before he told me this, but that just affirmed my decision. Guess I just don't trust the government. lol.

  7. No remotely reliable study has shown any link between any vaccine and autism, but various good ones have shown no link. Including one recent one that actually looked at people in different age groups, rather than just looking at autism diagnosis rates, and found that there was no difference in autism rates between generations that didn't have the MMR vaccine, generations where a large proportion of people had had it, but many adults with autistic spectrum disorders had never been diagnosed.
In other words, it confirmed what has been suspected: there is no 'autism epidemic', the appearance of it was only due to increased diagnosis.

    1. But really... What's the point in chancing it when most vaccines protect against non-life-threatening diseases? I mean, really, the flu? I'd rather throw up for a day than chance it. And the chicken pox? Actually, getting chicken pox builds up your immunity to many, many diseases. Better to get it young than get the vaccine, which wears off and leaves you vulnerable to getting it when you are older.

Being an individual who almost died as an infant due to vaccine reactions, I will not be giving them to my children, and do not get the flu shot each year.

    2. I'm sure countless parents of vaccine damaged children will disagree, along with the government that gives money every year to vaccine damaged individuals.
This talks about the money paid to vaccine injured kids:

    3. Ok Carrie,

Forget the autism debate (which isn't quite as black and white as you've written, btw, or people wouldn't debate it)... is thimerisol, a known toxin STILL in the vaccines that are circulating out there (it's on the label)... something you want to put inside your body, in any amount?

Even if the amount is said to be small, why inject something like that into your body? Forget the other ingredients which are known toxins as well... thimerisol is enough for me, thank you.

    4. You get worse toxins in your body every time you eat a can of tuna. Methyl mercury is far worse than ethyl mercury. You eat methyl mercury in tuna and other fish.

  8. I didn't know that about the flu shot. I've never gotten it and never plan to. I did have the chicken pox, but only because as an adult I don't want to get it and never had it as a child. All but one of my kids has had the chicken pox and I don't intend to vaccinate him. He can get it while he is young. I have given them all the other vaccines though...polio. mumps, etc. I do think there is a risk, but the risk of them getting the disease seems far worse to me. However with my youngest I am taking my time. It seems they put so much into them when they are so small.

  9. I am open to listen. I sure don't want the kids to get the horrible "child hood disease" we had. So, How does one weigh this out?

    1. Malika,

You might start by availing yourself of the information on The National Vaccine Information Center's website at nvic.org. NVIC has pages and links to sites that discuss the benefits and risks of vaccination, vaccine ingredients, state vaccination laws (including their religious, medical and philosophical exemptions), vaccine injury compensation and your vaccine choice options. I hope this is helpful.

      David

  10. I can't believe there are still individuals out there who a peddling the fiction that there is a link between vaccination and autism - a link that has been roundly discredited by the most experienced minds in science across the world.

And this notion of vaccine damaged children - what absolute rot. Have any of you ever seen the effects of tetanus in a child who has not had the tetanus vaccine or polio because they haven't had the polio vaccine? As a paediatric ICU Nurse of 20 years experience, I have and it is the most frightening experience I have ever witnessed. Tetany alone has the potential to cause a child to break their own spine - so violent are the muscle contractions they have. And I never thought in my own lifetime I would ever witness the misery of polio.

You peddle doubt and half truths and blatant lies in an effort to portray vaccines as evil - when in truth, they save countless lives and prevent immeasurable cost burdens to health systems across the world.

  11. My daughter suffered a severe adverse reaction to her vaccines at 14 months old. She was 'gone' in about 20 minutes on the drive home from that 'well-baby' visit. She has never been well since that day. Later diagnosed with static encephalopathy manifested by autistic features and beahaviors. Also brain damage and inflammation of the brain and gut. cholitis, IBD/IBS, hyperlipidemia, hyperacousis, tics, P.A.N.D.A.S., antibiotic resistance, liver glutathione difficient, nutrient malabsorption, low muscle tone, severe sleep deprevity, She was also diagnosed with having autism from ECI and Disability Dept. of the ISD. She did NOT have autism prior to those vaccinations. READ the vaccine package inserts! The vaccine makers are not hiding the truth!

  12. I just love when some "science is my religion" nutjob tells someone to do some research and then quotes the "CDC" as if that ends all debate. The CDC is utterly corrupt, they are all bought and paid for whores for Big Pharma, their "research" is pure trash. They pay to get the results they want.
